στρεβλός

Ancient Greek

Etymology

Maybe from Proto-Indo-European *strebʰ-, the same root of στρέφω (stréphō, “to twist”). However, due to the connection with words like στρόβιλος (stróbilos, “fir-cone”), στρόμβος (strómbos, “spinning top”), Beekes suggests a Pre-Greek origin.
