تراشیدن

Persian

Etymology

From Middle Persian [script needed] (tʾšytn /tāšīdan/, “to cut, cleave”), with intrusive -r- from contamination with خراشیدن (xarâšidan, “to scratch”), from Proto-Iranian *tā́šti (“to cut”), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *tā́ćšti, from Proto-Indo-European *tetḱ- (“to create; to cut”). Cognate with Sanskrit ताष्टि (tāṣṭi, “to cut; to carve”), Russian теса́ть (tesátʹ, “to cut; to hew”), Latin texō (“to pleat; to weave”), Ancient Greek τέχνη (tékhnē, “art, craft”).[1]
