Letter

ᨦ (ṅa)

  1. The 13th letter and fifth consonant of the Tai Tham Pali alphabet. In Pali it represents the velar nasal consonant /ŋ/.

Usage notes

As the first element of a consonant cluster not at the start of a word, this letter commonly takes the superscript form ᩘ (“mai kang lai”). The different superscript form used for a syllable-final consonant in the vernaculars is encoded as the combining mark ᩙ.
