From Sanskrit प्रासाद (prāsāda, “palace, temple”). Cognate with Burmese ပြာသာဒ် (prasad), Lao ຜາສາດ (phā sāt), Thai ปราสาท (bpraa-sàat), Mon ပြါသာတ်, Indonesian prasada, and Shan ပျၢတ်ႈသၢတ်ႈ (pjāat sāat).
