Usage notes

  • (translative case suffix) Variants:
Lua error in Module:utilities at line 142: attempt to perform arithmetic on local 'h' (a nil value) is added to back-vowel words. Final -a changes to -á-.
kutya (“dog”) → A varázsgyűrű kutyává változtatja az embert. ― The enchanted ring transforms people into dogs.
-vé is added to front-vowel words. Final -e changes to -é-.
medve (“bear”) → Héra medvévé változtatta Kallisztót. ― Hera transformed Callisto into a bear.
  • When it is added to a word ending in a consonant, the v assimilates with the final consonant, and the final consonant becomes long:
Lua error in Module:utilities at line 142: attempt to perform arithmetic on local 'h' (a nil value) → Bolonddá tett engem. ― He made a fool out of me. (literally, “made me into a fool”)
hűvös (“cold”) +‎ -vé → Az idő hűvössé vált. ― The weather turned cold. (literally, “turned into cold”)
